A little while ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Zen, a fellow photographer, and her partner Jordan for a session swap.

Something that I’m pretty passionate about in photography and the creative world, is community over competition. I’m not into competition, that’s not my perch! As creatives, we should be building each other up and cheering each other on, learning and bouncing ideas off our creative friends… not competing with them.

Zen said it so well herself, “competition is ugly and lonely!”

We all have so much to offer! We are all different in how we shoot and edit. We all have our own personalities that filter down into our work.

On to the story of the day!

We started out at the popular Paperbark Forest Walk in Agnes Water. There is a reason this spot is popular, it is so dreamy! All of the ferns backed with the textured, creamy paperbarks, its like stepping into a fairy tale! Just remember to bring some bug spray (which i usually have on hand) haha the mosquitoes are the size of small dogs…

Then I showed Zen and Jordan my absolute favourite location in town.

The light is so prefect in this spot in the late afternoon. The tones of the rocks and cliffs and the sheer scale of them… to die for! At low tide there’s access to a little cave, where light shines through from above like a filtered spotlight. It is such a versatile location and I can’t wait to share it with others in future sessions.

After we finished shooting, we went out for dinner and a few beers to celebrate an amazing afternoon. We couldn’t have planned a better afternoon.

I am so thankful that these two rad humans came into our lives! I can see many more good times and hangouts in our future <3

As an end note - celebrate your fellows creatives successes! Celebrate them as much as you celebrate your own! We are all in this together, we don’t have to do it alone Xx
