Matt + Megan - surprise engagement
Look, it was hard not to shed a tear for this proposal… I’m a crier… I cry at EVERYTHING. Happy or sad.
Matt contacted me with his plan to propose to Megan and wanted me to capture it and then turn it into an engagement session. I love these, I love surprise proposals! It is such a significant moment and to be able to have that raw and real moment professionally captured… Lets just say that I wish my husband did this haha.
So the plan was that Matt was going to bring Megan down to the beach for sunrise before they set off on a day cruise for her birthday. They have just bought an apartment up from the beach entrance and are planning to move up here, from Canberra, mid 2020, so this spot holds a lot of meaning for them both.
So I got to the spot that Matt had chose and I sat and I waited for Matt to send me a sneaky text to let me know they were on their way down! My goal was to just look like I was a random person photographing the sunset… you know, just blend into the back ground.
As they walked onto the beach, I spotted Matt and gave him a little nod, he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. He walked Megan down to the water and had her face out so that he could ‘take a photo of her’… Instead, he got down on one knee and waited for her to turn around.
Matt had shared with me the poem he had written for Megan ahead of time. Oh. My. God. This man has a way with words! I found out later while we were shooting that one of his hobbies is writing! The poem actually made me tear up when I read it, it was so heartfelt and you could just tell that he had found the person that he truly wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
After they had a moment together to soak it all up, I walked over and Matt introduced me to Megan and confessed his secret arrangement. I congratulated them and we chatted for a bit and then we got shooting.
Matt and Megan were so fun to photograph and hang out with. They are just so down to earth and kind and caring people.
